Statement of Principles

The Patient Representative will:

  • Consistently apply policies and procedures to all individuals.
  • Treat client concerns with an absence of bias.
  • Reflect ethical standards in decisions and decision process.
  • Protect individual privacy at all times.
  • Treat individuals with courtesy, respect and dignity.
  • Provide explanation/criteria/rationale for decisions that affect them.
  • Focus on client advocacy, no matter the concern.
  • Provide a clear, easy, accessible route for individuals to express their concerns.

Where is the Patient Representative located?

  • Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Administrative offices.

Who will the Patient Representative assist?

  • Clients/residents, patients and their families.

What can the Patient Representative do?

  • Act as a liason between clients/residents, patients, their family and the organization.
  • Assist with problem solving and facilitating complaint resolution.
  • Manage concerns and unmet needs.
  • Encourage, inform and assist individuals and families to find appropriate solutions in meeting their healthcare needs.
